AOC
Big Screen LCD Lands in PC World’s Top 10 San Francisco, February 2003: The results are in. PC World has completed their review of the latest big-screen LCD displays, and AOC is in the top 10. Charting the industry trend towards larger, less expensive big screen technology, PC World examined the top vendors of LCDs, including Dell, NEC-Mitsubishi, Samsung, and ViewSonic. In multiple test categories, AOC proved that less can be more in terms of price to performance. Specifically, the review stated, “the AOC LM914 is quite affordably priced for a 19-inch LCD.” It also pointed out that in image-quality tests, the LM914 “held its own against more expensive LCDs. With its sharp text and icons, and natural-looking colors in photos, the LM914 placed squarely [among] leading contenders.” In addition, the LM914's built-in speakers were described as “some of the best we've heard. They produced a surprisingly big sound, compared with the relative whisper from speakers on many other LCDs.” In the final analysis, PC World stated “the AOC LM914 is still a great buy thanks to its strong image quality, above-average integrated speakers, and reasonable price.” “The 19" LCD is a step-up model from the 17" LCD,” stated Tak Shimizu, VP of Sales and Marketing for AOC. “I predict the 17” LCD will become an entry-level model in 2003. The 19” LCD is designed to meet the expectations of serious business users and gamers who need a larger display that offers both digital and conventional analog video input. Now is the time for AOC to offer 19" LCDs at affordable prices,” said Shimizu. “I predict serious users will recognize the value and performance of our larger LCDs.”
